Part 4 – Kirin Brewery Nagoya history

This brewery in Nagoya has been around since 1964 but Kirin in Japan was started by an American named William Copeland back in 1870. It was named “Spring Valley Brewery” in Yamate, Yokohama. Kirin name came about in 1888 and for awhile the labels were mostly in English.

Part 2 – Kirin Brewery label hidden Katakana

We were shown that the label on all Kirin beer has a hidden Kirin -　”キリン” in Katakana. Maybe I was always too drunk to see but I never saw it before.

Part 1 – Kirin Brewery Nagoya

“Delivering happiness of enjoying tasty beer for our next generation” so says the official guide to drinking beer from Kirin.

Made it out to the Kirin brewery in Nagoya today. Yet another automated wonder with only 150 people manning a humongous factory. They even use unmanned transporters to load trucks.

This time they only give you 2 beers (the Kirin beer Ichiban-shiboli) whereas the Asahi brewery gives you 3. There was no wild drunk Japanese guys this time and only a few people with us on the tour. Another difference was we got to try the beer before the alcohol is created, tasted terrible. More posts and pictures on the way.
